What Is Happening?

According to the proposal, the total cost of electricity supply for the second quarter of 2026 is estimated at Rs. 136.5 billion, while expected revenue from electricity sales stands at only Rs. 116.9 billion leaving a net deficit of Rs. 15.8 billion for the quarter. Bloomberg
Why Is This Happening?
The CEB has proposed applying the increase uniformly across all consumer categories. The PUCSL has raised several concerns, including increased capacity costs, delays in finalizing fuel supply agreements, and the inclusion of extraordinary expenses in transmission and distribution costs.
